Public Service Network Administrator

What do you do in your role?

In my role I support the Network and Systems team order and maintain the new network links going into sites across the MPFT, ICB, NSCHT, Staffordshire Fire & Rescue and Staffordshire County council. I also raise quotes and send off invoices for the links and the equipment needed for the installation.

Have you always worked in this role?

No, I started this role in October 2025.

What other roles and departments have you worked in during your career?

Before this role I was an Admin team coordinator for the admin staff within the district nursing department managing 9 members of staff across the bases all over Stoke-on-Trent. For most of my career I have been within the public sector such as UHNM, MPFT and Stoke-on-Trent City council. I also spent 18 months within the Telecoms industry as a Project coordinator assistant.

What motivated you to move roles?

I have always had a desire to work within a role that is IT based and I wanted to be more challenged within my day-to-day role.

What support helped you to make this change?

Being able to continue with my Level 3 NVQ Business Admin course since moving has been a huge thing for me as it has allowed me to finish the course I was 14 months into when joining the S&SHIS.

What do you value about progressing your career in S&SHIS?

The amount of new learning and different paths you can go down and the amount of opportunities that are given out.

What would be your best piece of advice to others seeking a career in the S&SHIS?

My best piece of advice to anyone seeking a career in S&SHIS is to stay curious and open to learning. There is so many different areas within the S&SHIS that you can go into if you are willing to learn and constantly develop.
