What do you do in your role?

My role involves designing and developing applications within fUSION tailored to the users needs. This involves writing code, testing code, researching and finding possible solutions to meet the user’s needs, improving the application based on feedback. The role also involves maintaining and ensuring fUSION is secure, if a problem arises with the application, then this needs to be investigated and fixed.

Have you always worked in this role?

No, I started working in this role in 2019.

What other roles and departments have you worked in during your career?

My career within the S&SHIS started of as a 1st Line technician, I worked there for about a year and then very quickly I was able to progress into the application development team.

What motivated you to move roles?

My end goal has always been to become a software developer, I had studied this in university. The S&SHIS allowed me to utilise my skills and gave me the opportunity to work in the area I have always wanted to and gain experience.

What support helped you to make this change?

fUSION was a new system and required additional support, this was an opportunity for me to grow and the management team were very supportive to help me achieve this.

What do you value about progressing your career in S&SHIS?

The opportunities and training that have been offered to me along with the support from the management.

Voice your career interests with your manager so that they can help you gain the skills that you need.
