Business Continuity Plan Tested
Successfully Tested
Great to report that during a twenty minute total power outage this week, our Business Continuity Plans (BCP) were tested and succeeded with no loss of service reported and the Service Desk were still able to fully function.
At approximately 8.20 on Tuesday morning, there was a localised power outage across a number of locations in Trentham, the location of our Service Headquarters.
Whilst the whole of the office and surrounding buildings were plunged into darkness, the Data Centre’s emergency power back up units were immediately on line and the Services’ Business Continuity Plans were invoked.
This meant that our Work From Home (WFH) and our Office based Service Desk Technicians, were all still able to make and receive calls from users and both, Technicians and users were still able to log and update tickets on our IT Service Management Tool (SMT) throughout the twenty minute power outage.
More importantly however was the fact that none of our Corporate, or Clinical IT Service users across Staffordshire and Shropshire were impacted, as there was no loss of Systems or Services during this period unless they too, were a victim to the loss of power in the local area.
All in all whilst it was unplanned, it was a great test of our BCP and on this occasion, it was a challenge that was fully met.
